Jean Louis Forain (1852–1931) was a French painter, printmaker, and caricaturist renowned for his biting social and political satire published in leading Parisian journals such as Le Figaro and Le Courrier français. A close associate of Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas, he exhibited with the Impressionists while developing a distinctive graphic style that skewered corruption, hypocrisy, and injustice. His Dreyfus Affair caricatures and courtroom scenes remain among the most celebrated examples of French satirical art.
