Lucien Rees Roberts
The Path
2016
This monumental landscape painting by Lucien Rees Roberts depicts a dappled woodland path flanked by a dry stone wall and gnarled, sinuous trees rendered in a muted palette of grey, green, and ochre. The composition captures the interplay of light filtering through dense foliage, a hallmark of the artist's plein air practice developed during his annual painting residencies on a secluded island off the coast of Croatia. At 72 by 60 inches, the work commands significant presence and exemplifies Roberts's ability to merge architectural sensitivity with expressive brushwork. The piece is available for purchase directly through the artist.
