Otto Freundlich was a German painter and sculptor, a pioneer of abstract art. Associated with the Cologne Progressives and a friend of Picasso, his bold geometric compositions explored color and form. His sculpture was infamously used on the cover of the Nazi 'Degenerate Art' exhibition guide. He died in a concentration camp.
