Kurt Seligmann (1900–1962) was a Swiss-American Surrealist painter, printmaker, and occultist whose work blended fantastical imagery with deep interests in magic, mythology, and esoteric history. His paintings often depicted mysterious armored figures and baroque, dreamlike compositions that set him apart from other Surrealists. He was a key figure in bringing Surrealism to the United States after emigrating in 1939, and he authored the influential study 'The Mirror of Magic' (1948).
