John Wesley was a painter known for deadpan, carefully executed images combining cartoon imagery with minimalist formal strategies. His flat, enigmatic paintings influenced both Pop Art and Minimalism. He exhibited at documenta and his work is in MoMA, the Whitney, and European institutions.
