Jean (Hans) Arp (1886–1966) was a French-German artist and poet who was a founding member of the Dada movement and a key figure in Surrealism and abstract art. Known for his biomorphic sculptures and reliefs, Arp developed an organic, flowing visual language that evoked natural forms such as seeds, clouds, and human torsos, rejecting rigid geometric abstraction in favor of chance and spontaneity. His work across sculpture, collage, and poetry made him one of the most influential avant-garde artists of the twentieth century.
