1962
A bold, large-format abstract geometric painting by Karl Benjamin, executed in 1962 at the height of his mature Hard Edge style. The composition features a dynamic arrangement of angular, overlapping rectangles and parallelograms in black, white, and multiple shades of green against a vibrant emerald field — a hallmark of Benjamin's California Hard Edge movement work. The painting is framed in a natural oak float frame and bears the artist's initials and date 'KB62' in the lower left corner. Benjamin was a leading figure of the Los Angeles Hard Edge movement alongside John McLaughlin, Frederick Hammersley, and Lorser Feitelson.
