Serge Poliakoff

Serge Poliakoff (1900–1969) was a Russian-born French painter celebrated for his richly colored, abstract compositions built from interlocking geometric forms. Working primarily in Paris, he developed a distinctive style characterized by layered, mosaic-like shapes in deep, luminous hues that conveyed a sense of spiritual depth and tactile materiality. He is regarded as a pivotal figure in the School of Paris and European post-war abstraction.
