Richard Diebenkorn

Diebenkorn created Abstract Expressionist paintings before developing his "Ocean Park" series of luminous geometric abstractions inspired by California landscape and light. His synthesis of abstraction and representation made him a major American painter. He is extensively collected by SFMOMA, the Met, and MoMA.
