Paul Cadmus (1904–1999) was an American figurative painter and printmaker known for his meticulously detailed tempera and oil paintings that combined classical technique with sharp social commentary. His work often depicted the human figure with exaggerated, sometimes satirical realism, exploring themes of sexuality, morality, and American life. He gained notoriety in 1934 when the U.S. Navy demanded the removal of his painting 'The Fleet's In!' from a public exhibition, catapulting him to national attention.
