Karla Black is a sculptor known for ethereal, large-scale installations using unconventional materials including cellophane, plaster powder, cosmetics, and sugar paper. Her process-based works explore texture, color, and the properties of materials in precarious, often floor-based arrangements. She represented Scotland at the Venice Biennale in 2011, was Turner Prize-nominated in 2011, and is collected by Tate and Scottish National Gallery.
