Fausto Melotti (1901–1986) was an Italian sculptor and ceramicist whose work bridges abstraction and poetic sensibility, characterized by delicate, lyrical constructions in brass, ceramic, and mixed materials. He was a pioneer of abstract sculpture in Italy, creating intricate assemblages that evoke music, theater, and mythology through lightweight, almost fragile forms. Melotti's work gained significant international recognition late in his career, and he is now regarded as one of the most significant Italian artists of the twentieth century.
