Mel Bochner's *12"; and 12"* is a diptych of two unique monoprints combining woodcut and embossing techniques on handmade, hand-dyed Twinrocker paper. The work reflects Bochner's longstanding investigation into language, measurement, and the systems we use to define and quantify space. The rich, tactile surfaces created through embossing and the expressive qualities of the hand-dyed paper add a sensory dimension to the conceptual precision characteristic of his practice.
