“The most ‘complex’ of my paintings have a lot of layers; a lot of things happening, a lot of contradictions, energy lies there and the duration of its making is visible.”
A swirling, layered composition unfolds across the canvas, where Bernadet builds up densely worked passages of oil paint that seem to breathe with accumulated time and gesture. Contradictory impulses — stillness and motion, opacity and translucency, control and abandon — collide and coexist across the surface, leaving visible traces of the painting's extended evolution. The work rewards sustained looking, revealing new tensions and harmonies embedded within its chromatic and textural depths.
