Ouattara Watts is an Ivorian-born painter whose large-scale works blend African spiritual traditions, cosmological symbolism, and gestural abstraction, drawing on influences ranging from Dogon mythology to jazz and quantum physics. His canvases are richly layered with hieroglyphic-like marks, found objects, and vibrant pigments that evoke a synthesis of ancestral knowledge and contemporary global culture. Championed early in his career by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Watts has exhibited internationally and is recognized as a significant voice connecting African cosmology with Western avant-garde traditions.
