Omar Rayo (1928–2010) was a Colombian artist celebrated for his distinctive Op Art paintings and prints characterized by bold geometric forms, illusionistic depth, and high-contrast black-and-white compositions. His work explored optical illusions and the interplay of light and shadow through precisely rendered interlocking shapes, earning him international recognition across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Rayo was also a passionate cultural advocate who founded the Museo Rayo in Roldanillo, Colombia, a landmark institution dedicated to drawing and printmaking in Latin America.
