Mario Schifano

Schifano was a painter who created Pop Art works incorporating Coca-Cola logos, television imagery, and art historical references in enamel paint on paper or canvas mounted on board. His works bridged American Pop Art and Italian postwar painting, often featuring subtle, monochromatic grounds with layered imagery. He was a central figure in Italian contemporary art and his work is held in major collections including MAXXI and the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna.
