Morley pioneered Photorealism before shifting to gestural, fragmented Neo-Expressionist paintings in the 1980s. His dramatic stylistic evolution and works like 'School of Athens' (1972) are held by MoMA, Tate, and other major collections. He was the first recipient of the Turner Prize in 1984, recognizing his influence on contemporary painting.
