Louis Stettner (1922–2016) was an American photographer celebrated for his humanist documentary work capturing everyday life in New York City and Paris. Deeply influenced by the Photo League and Walt Whitman's democratic idealism, his work portrayed workers, commuters, and ordinary people with warmth and dignity. He is regarded as one of the great street photographers of the 20th century, bridging American and French photographic traditions.
