Jiro Takamatsu (1936–1998) was a pioneering Japanese conceptual artist and co-founder of the influential Hi Red Center collective in the 1960s, known for provocative Fluxus-influenced happenings in Tokyo. His practice spanned painting, sculpture, and installation, with a particular focus on the philosophical exploration of shadows, strings, and perspective through works like his renowned 'Shadow' and 'Oneness' series. Takamatsu is considered one of the most significant figures in postwar Japanese avant-garde art, bridging conceptualism and Mono-ha aesthetics.
