Jervis McEntee was an American painter associated with the Hudson River School, known for his atmospheric and melancholic landscape paintings. Though a lesser-known figure, he was a close friend and traveling companion of several prominent Hudson River School artists. Beyond his paintings, his journals written from 1872 to 1890 offer an invaluable record of New York artistic life during and after the Gilded Age.
