Helena Almeida

Almeida was a performance and photography artist who used her body as her primary medium, creating staged photographs that blur painting, drawing, and performance. Her black-and-white series exploring gesture and materiality are iconic works of body art. She represented Portugal at the Venice Biennale and is held by Tate, Centre Pompidou, and MoMA.
