Hans Coper (1920–1981) was a German-born British studio potter widely regarded as one of the most significant ceramic artists of the 20th century. Largely self-taught, he developed a distinctive sculptural approach to pottery, creating austere, enigmatic forms that blurred the boundary between vessel and sculpture. His work is held in major museum collections worldwide and continues to command exceptional prices at auction.
