Giorgio Griffa

Giorgio Griffa is an Italian artist born in 1936 in Turin, where he continues to live and work. His practice is characterized by delicate, gestural marks, lines, and abstract signs applied in acrylic on unprimed, unstretched canvas, often left to hang loosely from the wall. Associated with Arte Povera and Analytical Painting movements of the late 1960s and 1970s, Griffa has gained renewed international recognition in recent decades for his meditative and process-driven approach to painting.
