Eugène Cuvelier (1837–1900) was a French photographer associated with the Barbizon School, who learned photography from his father Adalbert Cuvelier and became closely connected with the artists working in the Forest of Fontainebleau. He is particularly celebrated for his intimate and poetic paper-negative and albumen print photographs of the Fontainebleau forest, which reflect the naturalist sensibilities of the Barbizon painters. His work bridges the worlds of fine art painting and early photography, and he is recognized as a pioneering figure in landscape photography in France.
