Pedro Coronel (1922–1985) was a prominent Mexican painter and sculptor known for his vibrant, large-scale abstract compositions that drew on pre-Columbian mythology, indigenous symbolism, and cosmic themes. His bold use of color and dynamic forms placed him among the leading figures of Mexican modernism, distinct from but in dialogue with the muralist tradition. Coronel was also a significant art collector, amassing an important collection of works that he donated to his hometown of Zacatecas, Mexico.
