Adja Yunkers (1900, 1983) was a Latvia-born American artist celebrated for his mastery of woodcut printmaking and abstract expressionist works on paper. He developed a distinctive visual language that merged gestural abstraction with rich color and textural complexity, earning him international recognition in the postwar American art scene. Yunkers taught at the New School for Social Research in New York and was a significant figure in elevating printmaking as a fine art form.
