Giò Pomodoro

Giò Pomodoro (1930–2002) was an influential Italian sculptor known for his dynamic abstract works that explore tension, movement, and the transformation of matter. He developed a distinctive visual language through deeply carved and torqued bronze and gold surfaces, creating works that evoke geological forces and cosmic energy. A central figure in post-war Italian art, he exhibited internationally and contributed significantly to the development of abstract sculpture in Europe.
