Corneille (Guillaume Cornelis van Beverloo, 1922–2010) was a Dutch-Belgian painter and co-founder of the influential CoBrA movement, known for his vibrant, expressive canvases celebrating life, nature, women, and exotic travel. His work evolved from the raw, child-like energy of early CoBrA into a more lyrical and colorful style influenced by his travels to Africa, South America, and the Caribbean. He is regarded as one of the most important European avant-garde artists of the postwar era, blending spontaneity with a joyful, sensual aesthetic.
