Pierre Jeanneret (1896–1967) was a Swiss architect and designer, cousin and longtime collaborator of Le Corbusier, whose furniture designs have become highly sought-after collectibles in the design and art market. He is best known for his work on the master plan of Chandigarh, India, where he served as Chief Architect from 1951 to 1965, designing iconic teak and cane furniture pieces including the iconic scissor chair, easy chair, and office chair that furnished the city's administrative buildings. His functional yet elegant modernist designs, rooted in the principles of the International Style, have experienced a dramatic surge in collector interest and auction prices in recent decades.
