Black Alice; and White Alice
Two offset lithographs rendered in striking contrasting palettes, *Black Alice* and *White Alice* are collaborative works by Tim Rollins and K.O.S. (Kids of Survival) that reimagine Lewis Carroll's iconic protagonist through the lens of community-based artistic practice. The works combine the layered textures of screenprint and offset lithography with hand-applied gesso, creating a dynamic interplay between mechanical reproduction and gestural, handmade mark-making. Printed on Saunders rag paper with full margins, the pair function as visual counterpoints to one another, inviting reflection on themes of identity, race, and the transformative power of collective creativity.
