Thurston Hopkins

Thurston Hopkins (1913, 2014) was a renowned British photojournalist who worked extensively for Picture Post magazine during the 1940s and 1950s, documenting post-war British life with empathy and a keen eye for the human condition. His black-and-white photographs captured the gritty realities and quiet moments of everyday working-class life in Britain, as well as subjects across Europe and beyond. Hopkins is celebrated for his humanist approach to documentary photography, and his work remains a significant record of mid-twentieth century social history.
