Mark Klett is an American photographer best known for his large-scale landscape photography of the American West, particularly his rephotographic surveys that revisit and restage 19th-century survey photographs to document change over time. His work critically examines the relationship between photography, time, landscape, and cultural memory, often layering historical images with contemporary ones. Klett is a central figure in contemporary landscape photography and has been widely exhibited and published, including through the landmark Rephotographic Survey Project.
