Luca Giordano (1634, 1705), nicknamed 'Fa Presto' ('make haste') for his remarkable speed of execution, was one of the most prolific and influential Baroque painters of the Italian school. Born in Naples, he studied under José de Ribera and later absorbed the influences of Pietro da Cortona and Venetian colorists, developing a virtuosic and eclectic style that earned him commissions across Italy, Florence, and the Spanish royal court. His vast output of altarpieces, frescoes, and cabinet paintings profoundly shaped the transition from Baroque to Rococo painting in Europe.
