Jesse Krimes

Jesse Krimes is an American multidisciplinary artist whose practice is deeply informed by his experience of incarceration, during which he secretly created works using prison-issued soap bars, hair grease, and bed sheets. His large-scale works explore themes of justice, surveillance, power, and the politics of the carceral state, often incorporating institutional materials to critique systemic inequalities. Krimes has become a significant voice in contemporary art advocating for criminal justice reform, working closely with formerly incarcerated individuals through his organization For Freedoms and related initiatives.
