Henry Wessel, Jr. (1942–2018) was an American photographer celebrated for his black-and-white images of everyday life in the American West, particularly California. His work is characterized by a sharp wit, masterful use of natural light, and an ability to find humor and poetry in mundane street scenes and suburban landscapes. He is regarded as one of the most important figures in American documentary photography, having been included in the landmark 1975 'New Topographics' exhibition at George Eastman House.
