Giacomo Balla (1871–1958) was a pioneering Italian Futurist painter known for his dynamic representations of light, movement, and speed. He was a central figure in the Futurist movement, co-signing the 'Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painting' in 1910, and created iconic works such as 'Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash' and 'Abstract Speed + Sound.' His work evolved from Divisionism and Post-Impressionism into pure abstraction, making him one of the most innovative artists of the early twentieth century.
