George Shaw is a British painter known for his meticulously detailed depictions of the Tile Hill council estate in Coventry where he grew up, rendered using Humbrol enamel paints typically associated with model kits. His work explores themes of memory, nostalgia, class, and the overlooked corners of everyday suburban British life. Shaw was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2011 and is regarded as one of the most significant figurative painters working in Britain today.
