Emily Mason (1932, 2019) was an American abstract painter celebrated for her luminous, color-driven canvases that explore the expressive and emotional potential of paint. Daughter of the painters Alice Trumbull Mason and Wolf Kahn, she developed a deeply personal approach to abstraction characterized by richly layered hues, fluid brushwork, and a sense of spontaneous discovery. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections and she was widely regarded as a significant voice in post-war American abstraction.
