Christopher Williams is a conceptual photographer known for his meticulously constructed images that interrogate the language and conventions of commercial photography, advertising, and photographic representation itself. His work, which often involves elaborate production processes and precise technical control, has been featured in major exhibitions including documenta and the Venice Biennale, and a major retrospective at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014. Williams's practice challenges assumptions about photographic objectivity and authenticity, treating photography as a site of ideological production rather than neutral documentation.
