Art Sinsabaugh (1924, 1983) was an American photographer best known for his striking panoramic landscape photographs of the American Midwest, particularly the flat plains of Illinois and Indiana. Influenced by his mentor Aaron Siskind and the precepts of the New Bauhaus school in Chicago, Sinsabaugh employed an antique banquet camera to create elongated, horizontal compositions that emphasized the vast emptiness and geometric quality of the midwestern terrain. His work is recognized as a significant contribution to American landscape photography and modernist photographic aesthetics.
