Alejandro Jesús Obregón Rosés was a pioneering Colombian painter, muralist, sculptor, and engraver widely regarded as one of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century. Born in Barcelona to a Colombian father, he spent most of his life in Barranquilla, Colombia, where his vibrant works drew inspiration from the Caribbean landscape, fauna, and political turbulence of his era. His bold use of color and expressive imagery helped define a distinctly Colombian modern art identity.
