Tim Rollins and K.O.S.

Tim Rollins and K.O.S. (Kids of Survival) is a collaborative art group founded in 1981 in the South Bronx by educator and artist Tim Rollins (1955–2017) and a rotating group of at-risk youth from the community. Their distinctive practice involves creating large-scale paintings directly on the pages of canonical literary and musical texts, merging art education with fine art production. The group became one of the most celebrated collaborative art projects in contemporary American art, exhibiting internationally and demonstrating the transformative power of art and literacy.
