Richard Lindner (1901–1978) was a German-American painter known for his bold, figurative works that blended elements of Pop Art, Surrealism, and German Expressionism. His paintings frequently depicted highly stylized, erotically charged figures—often corseted women, mechanical men, and fantastical urban characters—rendered in flat, vivid colors with hard-edged contours. Lindner is regarded as a significant precursor to American Pop Art, and his work reflects his experiences in pre-war Germany, Paris, and New York, where he spent much of his later career.
