Takamatsu Jiro (1936, 1998) was a pioneering Japanese conceptual artist and a founding member of the influential Hi Red Center group in Tokyo during the 1960s. He is best known for his 'Shadow' series, precise painted silhouettes of human figures detached from their source, as well as his explorations of optical illusion, perspective, and the nature of representation. His work bridged Mono-ha and conceptual art, earning him international recognition through major exhibitions and sustained auction market interest.
