Pioneering photographer who documented postwar Japan and the impact of American occupation, particularly the aftermath of Nagasaki. His book '11:02 Nagasaki' became a landmark work examining atomic bomb trauma. His work is held at MoMA, the Getty Museum, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
