Shanti Dave is a pioneering Indian painter and sculptor regarded as one of the most significant Indian artists of the twentieth century. He has been a member of prestigious institutions including the Lalit Kala Akademi and the Sahitya Kala Parishad. In 1985, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the country.
