Sarah Charlesworth was a conceptual photographer associated with the Pictures Generation who created minimalist photographic works examining media representation and visual language. Her series "Modern History" and "Objects of Desire" used appropriation and formal reduction. She is represented in MoMA, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney Museum.
