Samuel Fosso creates performative self-portraits in which he transforms himself into various personas, including historical figures, cultural icons, and fictional characters. His series '70s Lifestyle,' 'African Spirits,' and 'SIXSIXSIX' explore Black identity, colonialism, and power through elaborate costumes and staging. His work is held at Tate, the Guggenheim, and the Walther Collection.
