Salvador Corratgé (1928, 2017) was a Cuban abstract painter who became a pioneering figure in the development of geometric abstraction in Cuba. A founding member of the influential Los Once group in the 1950s, he championed non-figurative art at a time when Cuban artistic discourse was dominated by social realism. His work is characterized by rigorous geometric compositions, a refined use of color, and a commitment to pure abstraction that aligned him with international Concrete art movements.
